ORIGINAL MUSIC
Influenced by the intense rhythmic guitar style of Richie Havens and vivid lyrics of Nevin, Duritz and Heaton, (Fairground Attraction, Counting Crows, and The Beautiful South). As a late blooming Gen X singer songwriter, Ginger pens songs drawing upon the countless jobs he’s attempted to hold down over 4+ decades; antics with likeminded rebels as well as picking at some of life’s inevitable scars.
Ginger writes predominantly story-driven songs, inspired by and teased from, the world around him. This performance showcases songs from his early work with the resilience of ‘Take what you want’ and ‘Get out of here’, optimism of ‘This heart of mine’, ‘Rendezvous’ and ‘First sight’; despair, lust and regret of ‘Wake-up’, ‘Wanna love you’ and ‘Gone’ . The tracks were released in 2014 as part of a collaboration under the name "Bash & Strum" the album title 'Rendezvous' and is something of a a journey through the highs and lows of affairs of the heart.

Wanna Love You
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
Baby when will you be free for me.
I find It's so very hard to breath
I know that if you we're by my side
I'd love each and every night
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
Baby give your love to me
I know your love will set me free
So take my hand and walk this way
I'll love you each and every day
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
Baby my love is on fire
Flaming hearts passion filled desire
Your touch your kiss your warm caress
Without out your love I'm in distress
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
I see you, I hear you, I wanna touch you I wanna love you
White Lightning
white lightening cracks across my skin
A little red dot where the needles been
A line is drawn for one last dance
The door a jar and I see your glance
And there it is the pain
I'll have to lie to you again
I try to speak, you just walk away
The lie will have to wait today
White lightning running through my soul
I can't bare to watch you go
I call out I call out your name
you turn with a look of distain
And there it is the pain
I’ll have to lie to you again
I try to speak you just walk away
The lie will have to wait today
White lightning running through my vain
Its in may arms where you should have been
I never wanted it this way
Another lies not gonna make you stay
And there it is the pain
I can't lie to you again
As you walk out the door
I'm dying here on the floor
White lightning killing me inside
The lights go out one last time
My Hand
Hello can you feel me I'm a familiar face
I've been standing here beside you each and every day
And I'll never know if you could feel my hand
Steady and guide you through this hostile land
Hope to help you one last time,
Oh oh child of mine
Oh your sweet face as you heard the news
When everyone around you didn't know what to do
But all you needed was a steady hand
To ground you and help you understand
I know I left you with no goodbyes
Oh oh child of mine
The years have passed now wind calls my name
The pain of leaving again is hard, hard to take
But I've had the chance to watch you grow
And though you’ll probably never ever know
Ive been here holding your hand
Oh child, oh child, it time, oh child
to offer up your own hand
Oh child now you’re a man
Too Old to Die Young
]My beard may be white and I’m losing my hair.
I'm a little hunched over cause I've had to bear
the weight of all the crap life flung my way.
It’s taken 60 years to find my voice,
to write and sing about my terrible choices,
and a lot of craziness I’ve seen.
I’m too old to die young. Long haul and not a hit a run.
It don’t mean I ain't had no fun, trust me!
I can't make the ventisette club. But I've partied like I could have.
Jimi, Jannis and Amy would have to agree.
With the opportunities that life brings
don’t be a pale reflection of what might have been,
it’s never too late to follow your dreams.
While I'm not young I'm nowhere done,
I gonna rock and roll and sing my songs,
with guitar and foot drum I fly free.
Too old to die young, I'm long haul and not a hit a run.
It don’t mean I ain't had no fun, trust me!
I can't make the ventisette club. But I've partied like I could have.
Jimi, Jannis and Amy would have to agree.
Instrumental
Strike a chord and join the furore.
Sing out loud and kick open the door.
Let’s show these folks how we party!
We’re too old to die young, long haul and not a hit a run.
We’re gonna rock and have some fun, just see!
We won’t make the ventisette club. But we can party like we could have.
Jimi, Jannis and Amy would have to agree.
Party till the morning comes. Nineteen Ninety-Nine Prince sung,
that’s gonna take some years off guaranteed.
I'll offer you everything I can, playing here as your solo band.
Come join this old man’s rock and roll dream.
We’re too old to die young, a long haul and not a hit a run.
Will you rock until the morning comes with me?
Strike A Cross
With a lot of birthdays comes the knowledge that life's full of berks
as well as disappointment about how the real world works.
Fairness and justice are simply myths.
When I think about it I clench my fists.
Your cross and my cross don’t need to be the same.
But each cross we yield can bring about change.
Don't hunker down and wait it out.
Strike a cross and get the bastards out.
The mega rich are playing us for fools.
Taking control and manipulating our rules
We elect bullet proof and Teflon coated thieves.
Its takes one simple cross to stop this thievery.
Your cross and my cross don’t need to be the same.
But each cross we yield can bring about change.
Don't hunker down and wait it out.
Strike a cross and get the bastards out.
Blue, red, yellow, or green,
the longer they’re in the more reckless they’ll be.
So whatever your colour don’t let them reign for long.
Money corrupts no matter the party song.
Your cross and my cross don’t need to be the same.
But each cross we yield can bring about change.
Don't hunker down and wait it out.
Strike a cross.........
Your cross and my cross don’t need to be the same.
But each cross we yield can bring about change.
Don't hunker down and wait it out.
Strike a cross .
Strike a cross, Strike a cross, Strike a cross and get the bastards out.
This Heart Of Mine
One winter’s night it ended there,
I was left feeling oh so scared.
A chance to keep my heart intact,
Was taken from me when she turned her back.
Now I can't sleep, I just want to see
A change of light shining down on me.
Staring up towards the pale moonlight
Will I always see it through sad blue eyes?
Why did love die, why did I chance this heart of mine?
Time heals all or so I'm told,
Lessons learnt as mistakes unfold,
Lift up my eyes and look ahead,
Best foot forward there’s no turning back.
Can I survive if I chance this heart of mine?
(Bridge)
Now time has past only scars remain
my heart is strong and I feel no pain.
Happy under that pale moon-light
No longer seen through sad blue eyes
Now some years on and I look back and smile,
At the hearts I’ve won n lost each so worth while.
I wont give up, though I haven’t met her yet,
I know she’ll be the one who’ll never turn her back.
I'll sore so high, and chance this heart of mine?
Wake Up
Full of wild expectation as the dawn’s sun arrives
Her naked body beside you dappled in the morning light
You know that you want her you can no longer wait
And you whisper baby I love wake and make love to me
Honey I need you wake up and set my love free
Darling please hear me wake up and start loving me
Like we used to when our hearts were so wild and young
Baby I love you but look at what we’ve become.
Across the breakfast table with her smart phone in hand
She checks her status in face-book following her legion of friends
Her face lights up at a message that she has just received
You whisper baby I love but do you still love me
Honey I need you wake up and set my love free
Darling please hear me wake up and start loving me
Like we used to when our hearts were so wild and young
Baby I love you but look at what we’ve become.
You both go to the party it’s a warm sunny weekend
Your beautiful lady is talking with her friends
She turns towards you and give you the eye
Then mouths baby I love lets make love tonight
Honey I need you wake up and set my love free
Darling please hear me wake up and start loving me
Like we used to when our hearts were so wild and young
Baby I love you but look at what we’ve become.
With My Love For You
I was gonna be the one who never let you down
I was gonna be the one who'd always be around
I was gonna take you in my arms
Take away your fears and mend your heart
Set out a light on the shore and mark the way to your door
I'll be coming home real soon with my love for you
Your pictures in the magazine
you were my one and only my teenage dream
The light that burned within your eyes
took away my breath and passivised
The rebel boy in a hostel town
with a sullen heart and a furrowed brow
You made it ok just to be alone
cause I knew one day I'd be with you my love
Set out a light on the shore and mark the way to your door
I'll be coming home real soon with my love for you
The wind is howling it's a rough old sea
and there's hundreds of miles between land and me
Here aboard I've been wondering why
I never found you why I never tried
All the promises I should have kept
all of the dreams I never really dreamt
One way or another Im gonna make it home
one way or another I'll find you with my love
Set out a light on the shore and mark the way to your door
I'll be coming home real soon with my love for you
Set out a light on the shore and mark the way to your door
I'll be coming home real soon with my love for you
Roll
Late night rolling down the road
The rhythm of the tyres satisfies my soul
Headlights sparkling its the journey not the end
With no destination any roads gonna take me there
See it taste it smell it chase it Invite your hopes and dreams
Manifest your heart’s desire let your wishes sing,
You can be what you wanna be, remember you reap what you sow
All you gotta do is roll.
Dont look back face the way you wanna go
Keep on keeping on, rolling down your road
Die with memories, memories and not dreams
Perform not rehearse find and do your thing.
See it taste it smell it chase it Invite your hopes and dreams
Manifest your heart’s desire let your wishes sing,
You can be what you wanna be, remember you reap what you sow
All you gotta do is roll.
See it taste it smell it chase it Invite your hopes and dreams
Manifest your heart’s desire let your wishes sing,
You can be what you wanna be, remember you reap what you sow
All you gotta do is roll.
Rendezvous
3am and I’m far away
from toil and anguish, heart ache and pain
Of a wasted life full of 9 to 5’s
of that lottery ticket and that losing line
It never really mattered to me, I suppose it should
I really want to believe, in you
Board the plane to another land
leave behind what I know and what I understand
To a place and a space where I can be free
where I can thrive love and hope and dream
It never really mattered to me, I suppose it should
I really want to believe, in you
Instrumental
It never really mattered to me, I suppose it should
I really want to believe, in you
Standing there with you auburn hair loving smile and eyes that care
As we embrace and I breathe your sent
I finally understand what you meant
It never really mattered to me, but now it does
I hope you also believe in us.
In us
It never really mattered to me, but now it does
I hope you also believe in us.
Take What You Want
Mess with my head, tell me that you care
Say what you want, then walk out of here
Leave me alone baby, I don't need no fuss
Take what you want, I don't give a fuck.
Driving my car windows down low
Music up loud and there’s nowhere to go
If I see him baby I'm gonna mow that mofo down
You better hope I don't see him around
Clean me out, take my last cent
Sleeping in the car, cause I can't pay the rent
You've taken everything but still you want more
Take what you want you've really gone too far.
Instrumental
Gun in my hand, hate in my heart
I’m fully loaded you’ve pushed me to far
You're not welcome here so don't call around again
Take what you want it’s gonna be your end
Take what you want it’s gonna be your end
Take what you want it’s gonna be your end
Gone
Like a thief in the night
I slipped away with everything and left you with no life
I stole your heart crushed your sole,
And took away the only thing you ever truly loved
There’s no excuse what can I say,
If I could I’d go back I would treat you right and change my ways
Hear me out stay on the phone,
It’s one night only sugar, and in the morning I’ll be gone
Like a ship in the night I’m just trying to find my way
Please listen to what I have to say
I know it was wrong but I had to go
What is that I hear, don’t say your not alone
Called to arms to defend what’s right,
When I left you baby I was going off to fight
Now I’m back and on this night alone,
I know I really shouldn’t but I had to call you on the phone
I’m not the man I used to be,
You would see that honey if you’d only look at me
I can’t explain on the phone,
Let me come on over and I’ll show you I’m not wrong
Like a ship in the night I’m just trying to find my way
Please listen to what I have to say
I know it was wrong but I had to go
Who’s that with you, I have to know
I was bad, I know your right
I really shouldn’t have slopped off in the middle of the night
And left you there, on your own
Pregnant with our baby now I know that’s truly wrong
Take me back just for one last night
I will do my best to make everything right
I can make it like it used to be
Forget that man there with you ‘n’ spend a night with me.
Like a ship in the night I’m just trying to find my way
Please listen to what I have to say
I know it was wrong but I had to go
Don’t make me beg , no don’t put down the phone (Don’t make me beg , Oh you’re gone)
I Can Do Different
If I had the opportunity to live my life again
I'd like someone to tell me the following,
A thing I could use, when I find at work
I need to take the bluster from a managers’ words
I can do different, but I can’t do more
Regardless the effort no matter the chore
Deride my (position as being not hard core.
I can do different I just can’t do more.
If I had the opportunity to live my life again
I'd like someone to tell me the following,
A thing I could use, when I find at work
I'm being bullied to put my work first
Don’t offer excuses for invites you can’t attend.
Simply say I'm not available then.
If they don’t respect, or trust you can prioritise
They will show their cards by asking you why?
If I had the opportunity to live my life again
I'd like someone to tell me the following,
A thing I could use, when I find at work
I can’t get a promotion to the job that I deserve.
Don’t be too good at the job that you have now
or you’ll be irreplaceable confined and tied down.
Be a little bit better at stuff just outside your scope.
Make them see they need you in a new post.
If I had the opportunity to live my life again
I'd hope someone would share with me the aforementioned gems.
stuff I could use, when intoxicated by their role
a manager throws around their weight threatening to let me go.
So remember,
I can do different, but I can’t do more
Don't offer an excuse to justify an answer.
Stay focused on the job you want not the job you got,
and learn to manage your managers ego will help you a lot.
Get Off My Case
I've seen the writing on the wall
Just like a million times before
That sneer that look that hateful gaze
All I see my dear here is disdain.
I might be wrong that wouldn't be new
There so many terrible things I'm told I do
Maybe I should repent and learn my place
But all I wanna say to you, right here right now is get off my case!
Yeh baby wind you neck in
The boss don't like my attitude
He's always in an awful mood
I'm blamed for everyone's mistakes
Even when I'm on my coffee break.
I might be wrong that wouldn't be new
There so many terrible things I'm told I do
Maybe I should repent and learn my place
But all I wanna say to you , right here right now is get off my case!
Yeh go eat shit and die
It seems no matter where I go
I really never do belong
I take the fall for all that's wrong
Its all I've ever really had known
x2
I might be wrong that wouldn't be new
There so many terrible things I'm told I do
Maybe I should repent and learn my place
But all I wanna say to you , right here right now is get off my case!
Jog on and leave me alone
First Sight
Under the star and through the snow
You came upon me, it was so cold
On that fateful night when we first met
Little did we know where it ud end
When I met you, I knew right there that heaven had sent you.
Cupid’s arrow shot straight to my heart.
No messing baby, I know you might think that I’m crazy
But I knew I’d love you from the vary start
Time is bound to bring us all kinds of change
But for the record baby I, I just have to say
My soul is rested in your loving arms
I know it’s where I belong
When I saw you I could do nothing but adore you
Cupid’s arrow shot straight to my heart.
Don’t mind me baby you know by now that I’m a little crazy
And I’ll always love you no matter what
It’s said that lovers come and go while friends remain
You are my heart and soul, my joy my friend
A friend for ever a lover for life
I need you here by my side
Instrumental
No messing baby, I know you think that I’m a crazy
And I’ll always love you no matter what
When I saw you I could do nothing but adore you
Cupid’s arrow shot straight to my heart. (Yup)
Cupid’s arrow shot straight to my heart. (Oh yes it did)
Cupid’s arrow shot straight to my heart.
Formula
I heard Sally's gone Cause there was something wrong
that’s what her momma said Child let it rest.
don't say her name And please stay away
You've been gone to long To call this your home.
Three years and a day When I went away
I never wanted t' go but the judge said no no no
Folks like you have to learn you gonna get you fingers burnt
If you take and do not pay you gonna pay another way
But all the papers say Sally's has gone away
Her fellas was found dead a bullet in his head
But that can't be right Cause I'm her only guy
And now she’s gone for doing something wrong
Three years and a day When I went away
I never wanted t' go but the judge said no no no
I'm back and now you're gone oh there's something wrong
We did what we had to do t try n make it through
Oh Sally’s gone and won’t be coming home
Its what’s the TV said she’s as good as dead
If I only knew what she were going through
Now she sits and waits for her execution day
Three years and a day When I went away
I never wanted t' go but the judge said no no no
I didn’t think it through I shouldn’t have left you
and our baby crying for food that night
I'm back and now you're gone
Get Out Of Here
Whenever you need me, pick up the phone and call
I will be there for you should you ever fall
Take it steady one step at a time
Let what I've said sink in and be restful on your mind
Now I know it's not what you want to hear
What can I say, I'm sorry my dear
Nothing is for ever, you've show that's a fact
Your love for me hand left you caught in the act
No need to protest, try not to pout
The simple fact sweetheart is you've been found out
Now I know it's not what you want to hear
What can I say, I'm sorry my dear
Take your cheating body and walk through that door
Leave the house keys you won't need em no more
All right you have for gone with those faithless acts
You need to leave now I don't want you back
Now I know it's not what you want to hear
What can I say, I'm sorry my dear
Now get out of here
Get out of here
Get out of here
Get out of here

C U Next Time
In work there’s a certain type of person I’ve had the misfortune
to have met.
The kind that seeks a fast-tracked despite being way out of their depth.
Trashing the souls they manage, stepping over them anyhow.
More intent on climbing the ladder than being good at the job

C u next time you’re a disgrace
C u next time, you’re so barefaced
You’re a Snollygoster, a liability.

How can I benefit from that? How does that impact me?
Hiding behind a facade of false positivity.

Dotting The I's
Dorothy was as sharp as a knife,
resilient, resourceful and happy with life.
Forecasts, budgets, spreadsheets and cells,
were the areas in which she excelled.
Chorus:
Dotting the I's and crossing the T's,
doing your best to try and succeed.
Is not enough when you’re at the hands,
of someone who (don’t give a damn.
It’s announced Dot’s now managed by Grace,
whose singular task became not to lose face.
Grace’s role was over her head,
a recipient of the job, thanks to her friend Ted.
Grace started to meddle with Dorothy's work,
as her boss she could do what she wants.
Laws were flouted and rules were stretched,
finances became a mess.
Chorus
Ted, the one that gave Grace her job
happened also to be the departments overall boss.
Had Dorothy known she’d have thought twice
about voicing her concerns about Grace.
Having just met with Ted, that same day,
an email from Grace arrives in Dorothy’s tray
No words were written just one image attached,
when Dorothy opened it, her heart sank.
Chorus
The image was of Teds handwritten notes
of the meeting that day she had and it spoke
to a liaison between, …. Grace and Ted.
Dorothy knew that her career was now dead.
Chorus
Dorothy was kicked but refused to stay down,
preferring to fight at least one more round.
So she blew the whistle on the stinking lot
which for Grace and Ted was a bit of a shock
But riding it out they thought they could do
until their antics made regional news.
Sacked or resigned it’s not quite known,
but the pair had definitely flown.
Chorus Alt
Dotting the Is and crossing the T’s
If you have your own Grace, remember this story.
Note everything down and used control ‘P’
Keep a record of all that you see,
And blow the whistle on their fraudulent sprees.

C u next time is what you're always be.
If you've ever managed me and your initials are in the line of this song

Don't Get Me Started
We construct meaning through (Am) stories which help us define our lives
But who is manipulating our narrative with the aid of fake news and lies
Why is it so important to influence what we think and choose
Can you see the dollar (Am) signs, the shimmering from, their mountain of loot.
Please save me from the anger, the rage I've bottled up inside
Look at how we're manipulated it's futile for me hide
the steaming blood that’s pumping running through my vein’s,
Don't get me started again.
While we salute our flag, stand inline and follow the rules.
The money in politics controls what we're shown and what they do
Electing multi-millionaires in the hope they’ll bring us better lives
Is as futile as expecting a junkie with a hit not to try and get (high
Oh save me from the anger, the rage I've bottled up inside
Look at how we're manipulated it's futile for me hide
the steaming blood that’s pumping running through my vein’s,
Don't get me started again.
I avoid the papers I don’t listen, read or watch, any news.
This keeps my blood pressure low and my soul in a better mood.
More a grumpy old man than the next Che Guevara.
But at times I walk a (Am) fine line between being one or the other.
So save me from the anger, the rage I've bottled up inside
Look at how we're manipulated it's futile for me hide
the steaming blood that’s pumping running through my vein’s,
Don't get me started again.
So as I consume a slice, and another slice of Jonathan Pie
Nish Kumar mashes the news underscoring the week’s political lies
And James OBrien is picking at the scabs of our fake and bias times
If you tremble with indignation at every in justice then you are a comrade of mine.
So, save me from the anger, the rage I've bottled up inside
Look at how we're manipulated it's futile for me hide
the steaming blood that’s pumping running through my vein’s,
Don't get me started again.
Because you'll be held to blame
Don't get me started again.
Dead Stare
Crash bang your on it just like a rocket
I don't know what you want me to say
All bluster you show hell fire and brimstone
I don’t wanna play this today
You see I've tried, and I’ve tried this can’t be denied
It’s really been a deadfall trip
Now I’ve got nothing to say, its probably better that way
we're gonna have to call it quits
Your dead stare makes me despair
Its a symptom of our demise
Its not a surprise that you don’t try to hide
You wish I’d do one and die
So as I walk out the door you collapse on the floor
Like I've dealt you a fatal blow
all drama and tears yeh we've been here
your performance won’t work any more
You see you've tried and tried to keep up the lies
its time to tell the truth to yourself
We were never a match that’s the simple fact
we need to say goodbye to this hell
Your dead stare makes me despair
you need to stop this sulk
Its an opportunity to set yourself free
find a better bloke
Yes your dead stare makes me despair
Its a symptom of our demise
Its not a surprise that you don’t try to hide
You wish I’d do one and die
You wish I’d do one and die
You wish I’d do so bye bye.
5 Days of Hell
It’s Monday morning again and the sun just don’t wanna shine
I’m heading for the station and I’m wondering why
Saturday and Sunday came and left in a whirling haze
I’m standing on the platform in the pouring rain.
It’s running down my head, face neck, back and crack
I’m soaked to the skin I really should get a hat
It’s a bloody awful Monday, like they always are
God get me to Friday night when I can head off to the bar
Come on there must be more to life than this
5 days of hell and 2 days of bliss
Spending my whole life waiting for the weekend to come
In a blink of an eye it’s up’d and gone
I know I caned the weekend like it was my problem child
I took it for everything that I could some may say I was wild
It’s my only opportunity to be bury this awful pain
Of those bloody Monday mornings in the pouring rain
Come on there must be more to life than this
5 days of hell and 2 days of bliss
Spending my whole life waiting for the weekend to come
In a blink of an eye it’s up’d and gone
The first thing I need to do at the weekend is buy myself a hat
I suppose that means I need to get up out of my sack
Well I better cut down for just once on a Friday night
If I’m gonna have to see Saturday and not just Saturday night
Come on there must be more to life than this
5 days of hell and 2 days of bliss
Spending my whole life waiting for the weekend to come
In a blink of an eye it’s up’d and gone
It’s Monday morning again and the sun just don’t wanna shine
I’m heading for the station and I’m wondering why
The rains running down my head, face neck, back and crack
I’m soaked to the skin I never saw Saturday or that hat
